Digital Humanities
I am the co-creator and co-editor of Colombia Syllabus/Primera línea académica, a crowdsourced digital repository that seeks to collect material on the 2021 protests in Colombia. We collect materials produced from the humanities, social sciences, and the arts to transform them into materials for higher education courses or bibliographic reviews. This repository would allow scholars and students to develop future research projects on this protest cycle, its proximate or remote causes, and theoretical perspectives that would link it with social movements or similar protests in Latin America or the global south. The materials range from articles and essays to books, documentaries, podcasts, songs, artistic interventions, and webinars.
Radio
I use radio as a pedagogical tool for my classes, connecting critical explorations of music, culture, and interviews with Latin-American/Latinx artists, activists, and scholars. It also provides an excellent opportunity to expand dialogues linked to my research, opening it to a wider audience outside academia.
As Producer
I produced, hosted, and programmed content in these radio shows:
- “Rutas Centro-Sur”, a community radio show on Latin American & Latinx music and culture, aired at Radiolex, Lexington. 2020-2021.
- “Bailando McOndo.” Aired at WMHB Waterville. Conceived as a companion for my course on music and Literature in Latin America at Colby College, co-produced by the students. Spring 2020.
- “Centro-Sur” Aired at WRFL Lexington. Centered on Latin American music and culture. 2018-2019.
- “Radio ciudad perdida” Aired at WHUS Storrs. Designed as an extra-curricular project for the Spanish classes at UConn. I also conducted interviews and mentored new DJs in the radio station. 2015 – 2016.
